Namkhan Riverside Hotel, Luang Prabang: A Review

On a recent trip to Lunag Prabang in Laos, I booked a stay at the Namkhan Riverside Hotel. This is a family run hotel with two floors and affordable rooms. Guests can choose from Standard Twin and Double rooms, or opt for Supeior rooms with balconies overlooking the Nam Khan River.

The Room

I booked a double room through Hostelworld for our stay at the Namkhan Riverside Hotel. Our room came with the following:

Double Bed
Air Conditioning unit
Ensuite bathroom with hot shower
Flat Screen TV with cable channels
Desk with chair and mirror
Outside seating area (Didn't get to use due to weather, but looked cute!)

While we were staying there, a cold front moved through the city after some rain, which made the AC pretty much pointless. We did request extra blankets our second night, and were promptly provided with a huge downy comforter. Yayy for warmth!

Amenities

The Namkhan Riverside Hotel offers several amenities that make it a great place to stay. One, that even I was surprised about, was pets are allowed. I don't know how often people travel with their pets, but it is so great that this family allows people to bring pets into their hotel! If that doesn't convince you, maybe some of these will:

Restaurant (free and delicious breakfast provided daily)
Free parking
Daily maid service
Can arrange day trips/tours
Can arrange bus tickets and transportation
Airport shuttle available (additional charge)
Great location! Right next to Mount Phousi, close to the night market and lots of cool restaurants.

Final Verdict

I would definitely stay at the Namkhan Riverside Hotel again. It had a great location close to Mount Phousi, the Night Market, and lots of shops and restaurants. The family that runs it was incredibly helpful by sharing many recommendations with us, and made sure to make us feel welcome. They also were able to book activities and transportation tickets, which was very convenient.
