Park Hyatt Chicago

There are times in life when you need a break from deal-hunting and just want a bit of luxury. I recently had such a craving for a little bit of pampering and elegant living. This craving came in perfect time for Valentine's Day and luckily for me, my boyfriend booked a romantic ‘staycation' at the Park Hyatt Hotel located in Downtown Chicago on the Magnificent Mile.

The Room

Our Park King room was spacious, modern, and sleek. Of course it featured a king sized bed with soft fluffy pillows (serious question – where do hotels buy pillows that are perfect?! I need some!). Each side of the bed had individual lighting controls with dimmers. The room also featured a 42 inch flat screen TV, large glass desk, and window bench with comfortable pillows for reading. For those people who like to sleep in, the room also had controls for blackout and sheer windows shades.

My favorite part of the room was the bathroom which featured a walk in shower, glass doors for the shower and toilet as well marble table tops and his & her sinks. The best part was the oversize marble bath, in which I promptly drew a bubble bath. The bathroom open up to the room, but also could be closed for privacy using the sliding wooden doors. Added bonus: guests can watch TV on the set located in the bathroom.

Other room amenities included:

  • Enhanced desk lighting
  • Plush bathrobes
  • Hairdryer
  • Iron and ironing board
  • 24 hour in-room dining servce
  • DVD player (available upon request)
  • Geneva sound system
  • In-room temperature control
  • In-room safe
  • Morning newspaper
  • Complimentary Wifi access
  • 24 hour concierge service

Final Verdict

Would I stay at the Park Hyatt again? Absolutely! The location is fantastic for partaking in downtown Chicago activities (like the Chocolate Tour of Chicago), dining, and shopping on the Magnificent Mile. In the summer, it is only a few blocks from Oak Street Beach. The room was elegant, extremely comfortable and the staff incredibly accommodating. The only improvement I would make would be to request a room with a view when booking – our room looked out on part of the roof and pipes… not so pretty.
