On Saturday March 7, 2015 the Chicago Children's Museum hosted their fifth annual Hide N Seek Gala. The event was held after hours in the museum with proceeds going directly to the museum to help with their innovative exhibits and educational training. One ticket included hors d'oeuvres, drinks for the entire four hours, live music and games, $20 worth of raffle tickets, and even a future family pass to the museum! Some friends and I found a deal on the tickets from Gilt City Chicago, and were eager for a night where we could dress up and enjoy a classy affair for adults who are still kids at heart.
We arrived around 9:30 PM and immediately hit one of the three bars serving up cocktails, beer, and wine for the evening. Once we had drinks securely in our hands, we made our way to the food. There were some great restaurants serving up samples: RPM Italian offered stuffed peppers and meatballs; Ramen San had delicious fried rice; Hub 51 served sushi two ways; Bub City whipped up brisket sliders; and last, but not least, Three Dots and a Dash served Hawaiian dip as well as spring rolls. All of the food was very tasty. My favorite of the night was the fried rice and spring rolls (you guys know about my affinity for asian cuisine).
All of the exhibits in the museum were open during Hide N Seek for party goers to enjoy. My friends and I wandered through many of them, savoring the freedom of sipping on drinks while enjoying many of the activities usually reserved for the wee ones. Of course there were games for us adults as well – we found the Flip Cup room and spent some time honing our skills. And of course, no party would be complete without a photo booth! The one at Hide N Seek came with props which we used to spice up the pictures! As the night went on, the dance floor filled up and everyone spent the last hour dancing to the music of Gold Coast All Stars, a band made up of former American Idol contestants. All in all, the Hide N Seek event was a great time and an absolutely great excuse to dress up and forget about the worries of adulthood, if only for a few hours. I can't wait until next year!
